Over the last decade or so, the word “Yarden” has slowly entered the gardening lexicon. As with any new word or phrase, there are as many definitions as there are people using the term.
Therefore, I feel humbly empowered to offer my own definition of the word.
A Yarden is the creation and maintenance of a garden that integrates food production with the aesthetic beauty of trees, woody shrubbery, and perennials. A space that produces food and a place of beauty. At the same time, Yardening integrates organic methods and practices and the continuous improvement of the soil into every aspect of the work.
